Menurut cerita teman saya ini, awalnya dia mendapat kenalan di www.tagged.com. Setelah itu perkenalan berlanjut melalui email pribadi karena cewek London ini juga memberikan alamat emailnya, yaitu lina_cute@yahoo.com. Dia mengaku sebagai profesional analys komputer di perusahaan Dell Computer di Inggris. Dari perkenalan itu, si gadis pun mengirimkan fotonya. Berhubung teman gue cowok, ya lihat foto gadis cantik, bule lagi, tentu bersambut.
Dari sekian kali berkirim email, tentunya dengan bumbu-bumbu manis cinta, si gadis bersedia menjadi istri teman gue tuh. Nah, sebelum dia datang ke Indonesia, si Lina mengirimkan sebuah paket yang lumayan menggiurkan. Diantaranya sebuah laptop baru merk Dell, ipad, kamera digital, dan uang senilai 20.000 poundsterling Inggris. Hitung saja sendiri berapa banyak kalau dirupiahkan, kalau tidak salah mencapai hampir Rp 200 juta.
Berikut adalah salah satu email yang dikirimkan Lina ke teman gue. Siapa yang gak jatuh cinta dengan kata-kata manis, kiriman uang berlimpah, dan fotonya yang sensual.

Inti cara atau trik yang mereka gunakan adalah menahan paket barang yang disisipi dengan uang didalamnya. Menurut aturan negara manapun, namanya kiriman paket barang memang tidak diperobolehkan memasukkan uang ke dalamnya. Dengan alasan itulah pihak kargo akan mengirimkan email atau menepon untuk meminta biaya atau denda guna menebus paket barang itu agar bisa lolos. Asal tahu saja, teman saya itu diminta membayar sekitar 4.000 ringgit Malaysia. Ini adalah email pihak kargo di Malaysia yang dikirimkan ke teman gue itu.

Namun untungnya teman gue tuh masih rasional dan bisa berpikir jernih. Teman gue itu juga sempat ditelepon oleh staf kantor kargo di Malaysia yang memberitahukan tentang kiriman barang yang sempat tertahan itu. Namun teman saya tak tergoyahkan dan tidak mengirimkan uang sepeserpun untuk menebusnya. Kata teman gue, dia tidak mengirimkan uang bukan karena sadar ini penipuan, melainkan karena dia memang tidak punya uang sebanyak itu hehehe....
Jadi, apabila Anda yang mendapatkan email atau tawaran perkenalan yang memikat, waspadalah. Saat ini penipuan yang memanfaatkan internet banyak ragam dan strateginya. Dari cara halus, web phising, freud internet, dan sebagainya. Yang penting, jangan sampai Anda mengeluarkan uang untuk orang yang tidak dikenal. Juga jangan tergiur dengan besarnya uang yang dikirimkan karena itu cuma omong kosong.
